Sheffield United were set to sign Steve Kabba on-loan today, but the deal has been put on hold.
Kabba, who impressed during a loan spell at Grimsby earlier in the season, has been wanting a permanent deal with guaranteed first-team action.
Kabba was due in Sheffield today for talks with Neil Warnock about a loan deal, which if he impressed, would turn into a permanent one.
However Kabba rejected the deal, stating that a loan option was not what he wanted.
Warnock said: "The thing is Steve doesn't want to go on loan anywhere and Trevor Francis isn't keen on that either - they are looking for a permanent deal. At this moment in time, it is on hold.
We will keep an eye on the situation and see what happens in the next couple of weeks rather than rush into a deal.
"We have to weigh things up, I've brought Dean Windass in and we will see we go with the lads we've already got for Saturday's game.
"There is a possibility that some other club may come in and offer Steve a permanent deal, but at the same time, Michael Boulding is nearing full fitness as well."
