Ade Akinbiyi scored the only goal of the game as Palace reserves won 1-0 at home to Peterborough United.
The strong wind and rain in Beckenham did not help either side's passing game and it was Cedric Berthelin who was called into action early on, making a fine diving save from Richard Scott.
Moments later, Palace went in front. A cross from the right was not cleared by the Posh defence and Akinbiyi pounced to net from close range.
Dougie Freedman nearly added another when he collected a poor goal-kick from goalkeeper Dan Connor but failed to get enough power on his lob.
Rory Hutton and Helgi Danielsson went close for Peterborough with chances of their own.
In the second half, Michael Frew had a chance and David Farrell was thwarted by a Palace defender after a good run.
Palace: Berthelin, Fleming, Borrowdale, Powell, Antwi, Granville, Thomson, Hunt, Akinbiyi, Freedman, Routledge.
Subs: Watson, Nabil, Togwell, Soares, Gibson.
