Granville nets on comeback

October 12 2003

Danny Granville

Danny Granville

Transfer-listed Danny Granville scored for the reserves on his return following a hernia operation.

The 28-year-old scored from a free-kick in a behind-closed-doors friendly against QPR at Palace's Beckenham training ground.

He cancelled out Dennis Oli's opener for QPR but Eric Sabin's second half strike sealed a 2-1 win for Rangers.

Former Palace physio George Cooper failed to diagnose Granville's hernia last season but new physio Steve Allen sent him to Harley Street six weeks ago for an op.

He hopes to get back to first-team contention in a couple of weeks when he regains full match fitness, however Steve Kember is unlikely to ever play him.
