Kember facing injury crisis

October 27 2003

Steve Kember

Steve Kember

Steve Kember has suffered two blows ahead of the Carling Cup match against Blackpool on Tuesday evening.

It has been confirmed that Darren Powell will be out of action for six weeks after tearing a thigh muscle in the 4-3 defeat against Ipswich last week.

Tony Popovic has had a reoccurence of his Achilles tendonitis problem and will be rested for Tuesday night's match.

This leaves Kember with only one natural centreback, so he may have to play Shaun Derry or Danny Granville alongside Kit Symons.
