Kit Symons
Palace's caretaker boss Kit Symons said he may put his name forward for the permanent position if he gets a taste for it after a few games.
Palace sacked Steve Kember and Terry Bullivant on Monday and now start looking for their sixth manager in three years.
Symons, 32, said: "I'm going to do it for the immediate future but I'm sure a permanent appointment will be made in the not too distant future. As to who that is I have no idea.
"If I like it after a few games I may throw my hat into the ring."
Chairman Simon Jordan said: "Symons is taking over for a temporary period. It's important we keep the dressing room together."
Kember had been a loyal servant for Palace and his sacking ends a 40-year on-off association with the club.
He had two spells as a player, stints as caretaker boss, and was youth, reserve boss and assistant manager.
Former Palace striker and current Oldham manager Iain Dowie is the fans' choice to take over the reigns at Selhurst Park.
