Crystal Palace have swooped for MK Wimbledon defender Mikele Leigertwood in a £155,000 deal.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has played 65 times for the Dons since making his debut at the end of the 2001/02 season.

Boss Iain Dowie has been unable to field a natural centre-half in recent games due to injuries to Tony Popovic, Kit Symons and Darren Powell.

Leigertwood is not eligible to play in tomorrow's visit of his old team as part of the transfer deal.
