Jamie Smith
Former Palace defender Jamie Smith has gone on trial at League One side Bristol City.
Smith, 29, was released by Palace, along with Curtis Fleming, at the end of last season after his contract ended.
The right-back only managed 20 appearances in the last two seasons due to injury, but is fit again and keen to earn a contract at the Robins.
Bristol City boss Brian Tinnion told bcfc.co.uk: "We're giving Jamie the chance to fill the right-back role that has been a bit of a problem in recent games.
"He has played at a high level for the majority of his career and we're just going to have a look at him. He will start the game against Forest Green on Tuesday."
Smith made 176 appearances and netted seven goals for the Eagles since signing from Wolves as part of the deal which took Dougie Freedman the other way in 1997.
Fleming, meanwhile, has been offered a contract at Darlington after impressing over pre-season.
Boss Dave Hodgson said: "He's keen to stay up here to be with his family, which is great news for us because he's a fantastic professional."
