Ivan Kaviedes missed two penalties but netted the only goal of the game in the reserves' 1-0 win at home to Fulham.

Kaviedes fired Palace into a 6th minute lead when Shaun Derry chipped a free-kick over the Fulham defence and the Ecuadorian international nipped in to score.

Kaviedes had a decent penalty appeal turned down and Dougie Freedman went close before scuffing his shot with a one-on-one with the keeper.

Lance Cronin made two good saves, first from Elvis Hammond and Sean Doherty then Adam Green.

On the stroke of half-time, the Eagles were awarded a penalty when Alain Goma brought down Freedman. But Kaviedes' spot-kick hit the bar and he followed up the rebound, but the goal was disallowed.

In the second half, Fulham's Darren Pratley shot wide and Cronin saved Hammond's free-kick. Down the other end, Sandor Torghelle brought a good save from the keeper before striking the upright.

Fulham keeper Ross Flitney palmed Torghelle's cross onto the bar and from the corner, he parried Kaviedes shot straight to Anthony Danze whose effort hit the bar.

Kaviedes had a shot off the line and Freedman missed a good chance from close range.

Palace won a second penalty of the night in the 75th minute as Freedman was taken down by Flitney. Kaviedes' kick was saved by the keeper and when he finished the rebound, it was again disallowed by the ref.

Fulham's Hammond hit the post with five minutes to go but Palace held on for victory.

Palace: Cronin, Fray, Togwell, Leigterwood, Borrowdale, Lakis, Derry, Danze, Kaviedes, Freedman, Torghelle.

Subs not used: Dolan, Banks, Wilson, Berry, Hall.
