The reserves lost their first game of the season with a 1-0 reverse at Charlton.

Palace fielded a young side against the Premiership Reserve League South Champions, played at Welling United.

Rurik Gislason scored the Addicks' goal in the 15th minute after latching onto Jay Bothroyd's throughball.

Ryan Hall forced Charlton keeper Rob Elliot into a top after firing in a long-range effort. But Kit Symons' young Eagles were unable to find the goal on this occasion.

Palace: Banks, Straker, Beckles, Wilson, Wiggins, Berry, R Hall, Starkey, Kudjodi (J Hughes 65), Peltonen (Lyons 70), Grabban.

Subs not used: Wilkinson, Fish, Marshall.
