Player of the Year Emmerson Boyce has expressed his wish to leave Crystal Palace.
The 26-year-old, who only has a year left on his contract at Palace, became a fans' favourite with his battling displays in defence.
However, his performances have alerted a number of clubs in the Premiership since the Eagles failed to secure a place in the top-flight last season.
Former Palace boss Iain Dowie looks favourite to give Boyce a path back to the Premiership with Charlton.
The transfer fee, rumoured to be £1.75 million will further boost Palace boss Peter Taylor's transfer purse.
Boyce said: "Palace have offered me a new contract, but it wasn't really what I was looking for. I want to play in The Premiership and I just hope people can understand that."
Director of Football Bob Dowie is keen to secure the best deal for Palace.
"Emmerson has made it clear he doesn't want to be at the club so we have to listen to offers for him," he said.
"He's only got one year left on his contract and there's no way we can afford to lose him for nothing next summer."
