The fans
Palace flopped to a third home defeat in a row against Plymouth Argyle. Jamesey reflects.
The afternoon of October 28 commenced happily enough.
The fans' favourites, Dougie Freedman and Clinton Morrison started up front and, indeed, we looked a much improved side until Argyle scored the goal that won them the game.
For most of the second half we were clueless.
Peter Taylor's half-time tactical substitutions misfired and we were unbalanced and confused.
I sincerely hope that PT has clearly understood his managerial brief - to get us out of this division but in an upward direction not the way we currently look like heading.
And so for the second game running Selhurst Park reverberated to the sound of home supporters booing their team at half time and at the final whistle.
Things have got pretty dire and we have to ask ourselves what's gone wrong.
According to Peter Taylor's Plymouth match programme notes, written of course when the situation was only a double whammy, a considerable part of the blame lies with you. Yes, you, gentle readers.
"We didn't give our fans anything to cheer about against West Brom, but we did against Cardiff in a close game," declares Peter. Well, you could have fooled me.
Warming up to the theme, Peter continues: "There's no doubt that the fans can help us at home this season...but at the West Brom game there were a few individuals who maybe overstepped the mark with their criticism."
"Myself and the players all really want to win every match and I think that sometimes some supporters think we don't which is wrong," says Peter.
"If you all help us to win the home matches then the players can be confident at Selhurst Park and that only be a huge help."
Supporter loyalty has always been a grey area.
Do we blindly support the team even though they are obviously playing badly or do we let them know our feelings to a greater or lesser degree?
The decision is yours.
