Palace brawl charge

February 28 2001

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace and Norwich have been charged by the FA for the brawl during match at Selhurst Park on February 17.

The mass brawl started when Norwich midfielder Darel Russell tackled Jamie Smith from behind.

The touchline melle resulted in Russell and midfielder Jamie Pollock both getting sent off.

Both clubs have a poor disciplinary record this season.

Palace were fined £25,000 for their part in a fracas against Nottingham Forest and earlier this month Norwich had their £30,000 fine following a bust-up against Blackpool in the Worthington Cup reduced to £12,000 on appeal.

Meanwhile, striker Ricardo Fuller looks set for a place on the bench for Jamaica's World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago tonight.

After travelling out to Jamaica, coach Clovis de Oliveira looks likely to give Barry Hayles his international debut. He is likely to play alongside Derby County's Deon Burto.

Fuller is expected to fly straight back to London in preparation for Palace's league match at Selhurst Park on Saturday against Preston.
