Clinton hits ton in draw

November 10 2007

Clinton Morrison

Clinton Morrison

Clinton Morrison got his 100th Crystal Palace goal with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with QPR.

It looked like Rangers were going home with all three points when Scott Sinclair put his side in front right on the half-time whistle.

But two minutes before the end, Morrison glanced home Mark Kennedy's centre to give Palace a share of the spoils and reach the 100 goal landmark for the club.

Rangers had the first real opportunity when on-loan Birmingham striker Rowan Vine struck a shot that Julian Speroni saved.

Ben Watson and Paul Ifill wasted headed chances for Palace, while Morrison had a penalty shout turned down when he tangled with Michael Mancienne in the box.

And the Eagles were left to rue the wasted opportunities as Sinclair nodded Akos Buszaky's left wing cross beyond Speroni on 45 minutes.

Teenager Ryan Hall was handed his Eagles bow at the break in place of loanee Franck Songo'o.

Ifill then saw an effort cleared off the line by Sampsa Timoska before Morrison had a goal ruled out for offside. Speroni denied Adam Bolder and Sinclair then made another top save to thwart Vine.

In the 88th minute, Morrison rescued Palace with his headed equaliser, while sub Dougie Freedman could have won it had he not fired wide.

Palace: Speroni, Lawrence, Hudson, Fonte, Hill, Soares (Freedman 72), Watson (Bostock 64), Kennedy, Songo'o (Hall 46), Morrison, Ifill.

Not used: Idrizaj, Hills.
