Crystal Palace claimed a hard-earned point at Barnsley in a 0-0 draw.

Palace are now unbeaten in their last eight league matches under manager Neil Warnock.

They should have scored early on as James Scowcroft set up Clinton Morrison with a gilt-edged chance but the striker's effort was blocked by defender Lewin Nyatanga.

Down the other end, Danny Butterfield repeated the trick on Barnsley's Istvan Ferenczi.

The Eagles found Tykes goalkeeper Heinz Muller in superb form as he thwarted a Shaun Derry 25-yarder, Morrison's drive and a free-kick from Ben Watson.

In the second period, Julian Speroni was alert to tip over Jamal Campbell-Ryce's cross-cum-shot and Dennis Souza headed over from the resulting corner.

Matt Lawrence forced a great save from Muller while Speroni kept out Anderson De Silva's long range effort as both sides settle for a point.

Palace: Speroni, Butterfield, Hudson, Hill, Lawrence, Songo'o (Scannell 54), Derry, Watson, Soares (Fletcher 77), Scowcroft (Hills 85), Morrison.

Not Used: Freedman, Martin.
