The Football League
The CCC is really going to the wire this season, both at the top and the bottom, writes Jamesey.
I listened to the commentary on our 2-1 defeat by Hull City on the excellent BBC London sports station.
It was irritating to lose the match to a late goal when it seemed as though both sides were settling for a draw.
The Palace supporters were in fine voice and it sounded as though the team were being lifted, especially in the first half.
Having won a few tough away games this season, we can't really complain about a defeat to one of our division's top form teams, who could still gain automatic promotion to the Moulah-ship.
Anyhow, looking at the relegation scramble down at the bottom is certainly a lesson in humility and a stark warning to those, if any are left, who believe Palace are too big to go down.
Fortunately, the trapdoor to League 1 is not our concern this season but there still five clubs, one of whom could join already-relegated Scunthorpe and Colchester. And all five (Southampton, Leicester, Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry and Blackpool) are clubs who were once established top division performers.
At the other end of the table, there are five clubs who on the final Sunday are chasing fifth and sixth position in the table - ourselves, Watford, Wolves, Ipswich and Sheffield United.
A win against Burnley means, of course, that we are in the play-offs and if that is the case I am confident that this team and this manager will produce better performances than the incomprehensibly lacklustre efforts against Watford in 2006.
So everybody who can possibly make it should get Selhurst Park on May 4 and sing our lads into the play-offs. Lets create our own destiny, win the game and not be nervously listening to the other results.
