There was quite an atmosphere at Selhurst Park for our crucial game with Burnley. Jamesey elaborates.

Why are people so stupid? Please read on and I promise I won't whinge about anything else after such a tremendous 5-0 demolition of Burnley.

But having been told several times over the loudspeakers that the game was a sell-out why did people still not use the seat printed on their ticket? It is blindingly obvious that the true seat-buyer will eventually turn up and claim it.

As a result of all the toings and froings and people standing in front of me demanding that squatters move, I missed seeing the penalty and the second goal.

Ah well, there were three more to come.

Talk about hitting form when you need it, we cut 10-man Burnley to pieces and could have scored a few more.

And the noise and enthusiasm of the crowd must have stimulated the team. Even the normally quiet Main Stand was giving it considerable welly.

But it's bad luck to celebrate too soon. We have two play-off encounters with Bristol City coming up and, of course, depending on that outcome, a trip to Wembley could be on the cards.

I tried to buy my seat on line on Bank Holiday Monday morning for Saturday's home game but couldn't get any sense at all from the web-site. It kept telling me my season card client reference number was already activated which, unless there is a Jamesey clone out there somewhere, was total nonsense.

In desperation I tried phoning, hit lucky and got through straight away. So unless the Post Office manage to lose or misdeliver the ticket, I am all set for Saturday.

After the game, I forsook my usual watering hole, the Selhurst Arms, and on the recommendation of one of my correspondents, walked on a little further to the Two Brewers in Gloucester Road.

What a gem of a public house - delicious real ales, a nice country pub feeling inside, happy and friendly barmaids. The works... and such an unlikely establishment to find in the mean back streets of West Croydon/Selhurst.

So I am afraid after many years of inertia patronage, it's goodbye Selhurst Arms and hello Two Brewers from now on.
