Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has made his first summer signing with the £500,000 capture of Charlton defender Paddy McCarthy.
The tough centre-half played 33 times for the Addicks last season after joining from Leicester a year ago for £650,000.
McCarthy, 25, was the Foxes skipper and Eagles manager Warnock, along with supporters, will like the Dubliner's leadership and no-nonsense approach.
Warnock said: "I've chased Paddy for about five years and I'm delighted to get him.
"I think I can make him a better player and it's great to fit someone in our squad who I can trust straight away."
McCarthy came through the ranks at Manchester City, going on loan to Boston in 2002 and Notts County in 2003, before switching to Leicester for £100,000 in 2005.
The 6ft 1in former Republic of Ireland U21 and B international became a firm favourite at the Walkers Stadium until his move to Charlton last year.
He will replace fellow centre back Mark Hudson who left for the Addicks on a free transfer last month.
