The Eagles are trying to extend Matthew Upson's loan spell from Arsenal until the end of the season. The defender is currently on a month's loan from the Premiership club.
Alan Smith is reported to be keen to keep Upson, who is due to return to Highbury at the end of next week, at Selhurst Park until the end of the season.
The Gunner has been struggling with a back injury lately but he continued to play.
It is also reported that Alan Smith would like to sign Upson on a permanent basis, but it is not likely that Arsenal will be letting the England under 21 international go.
