Crystal Palace striker Kwesi Appiah has re-signed for League Two side Cambridge United on loan for six months.

The 23-year-old's 10 goals in 19 games during his four-month stint at the start of the season helped the U's to go on to claim promotion to the Football League.

Appiah then went on loan to League One's Notts County in January – but only started one of his seven matches – before joining AFC Wimbledon in League Two, where he made seven appearances and scored three times.

"I was here before and had a good connection with everyone," Appiah said. "Hopefully the fans will see some more goals from me this season and as a team we give them something to cheer about."

Cambridge director of football Jez George added: "Since Appiah left us, we've tried to do the best we can to bring him back.

"We had to move really quickly to make this happen and despite a lot of competition for his signature from other clubs, we are delighted to have signed him until January."

Thamesmead-born Appiah played just once for the Eagles last season in the Capital Cup One defeat at Bristol City.
