Crystal Palace finished their pre-season schedule with goalless draw against FC Augsburg in Germany.

Tony Pulis opted for a front partnership of Fraizer Campbell and Marouane Chamakh, and gave new signing Brede Hangeland a run out alongside Scott Dann at the heart of defence.

The first half was a fairly uneventful one with Erik Thommy and Marcel de Jong testing Julian Speroni earlier on, and Jason Puncheon lobbed keeper Marwin Hitz but saw his effort go over.

In the second half Pulis replaced Speroni with Wayne Hennessey and he was alert to keep out efforts from De Jong and Raul Bobadilla.

On 69 minutes Dwight Gayle, making an appearance from the bench saw his strong shot beaten out by Hitz.

Barry Bannan another second half substitute hit the post with a free kick, and then Gayle had the ball in the back of the net but was ruled offside.

Palace begin their Premier League campaign next Saturday against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Palace: Speroni (Hennessey 46), Ward, Dann (McCarthy 82), Hangeland, Jerome Williams, Puncheon (Gayle 65), Jedinak, Ledley, Bolasie (Bannan 65), Chamakh (Guedioura 72), Campbell (Murray 65).
