Green light given for new stand

April 19 2018

New Main Stand

New Main Stand

Crystal Palace have been given the nod to build a new Main Stand at Selhurst Park.

Croydon Council's planning committee unanimously voted in favour for the new giant structure which will increase capacity by around 8,000, though it is subject to the London Mayor's approval.

Costing around 75m to 100m, Palace hope to start the building works in the summer of 2019 and have the stand ready for operation in time for the 2021/2 campaign.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish told the club website: "I am absolutely delighted that Croydon Council has backed our plans for Selhurst Park. This project will not only transform the stadium, which has been our home since 1924, but it will also have a positive impact on the south London community.

"I wish to thank the lead officer and the councillors for their support tonight, and for all the hard work that has been put in by the council over the last few months to ensure this application was heard so quickly.

"I want to thank everyone who voiced support and those connected to the club who worked so hard over the last few months towards this very important step in the dream of a new Crystal Palace for Crystal Palace."
