Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has put transfer rumours to bed by signing a new five-year contract.

Speculation was rife over the summer that the Ivory Coast international was on his way out of Palace with the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea keenly interested.

Zaha has decided to commit his future to his local side after agreeing new-and-improved terms, reportedly worth £130,000 a week to become the club's highest earner.

"I just wanted to get it over and done with, so I can focus on the season," he told the Palace website. "I'm buzzing that we managed to get it sorted."

The importance of Zaha to Palace is huge as they haven't won a single point in any of the last 10 league matches played when he hasn't played.

The 25-year-old began the new season in fine fashion, by netting in the 2-0 away victory at newly-promoted Fulham on Saturday.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish added: "Wilf grew up a stone's throw from Selhurst Park from the age of four, and has been with the club since he was 12.

"This agreement is yet another example of his lifelong commitment to the club, and our commitment to him. This is an amazing day for everyone here at Palace, our supporters and of course Wilf – and is richly deserved."
