Trevor Francis has been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest's Stern John.

John, a Trinidad and Tobago international, can leave The City Ground at the end of the season via the Bosman ruling, however Palace would like to sign him before that to boost their choices up front.

Nottingham Forest's finanical problems have been well reported and they would be keen to offload some of their players at the right price.

Francis said: "We made an approach to Nottingham Forest two weeks ago."
