Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Dwight McNeil from Everton, with Brennan Johnson moving in the opposite direction as part of a swap deal between the two Premier League clubs.

McNeil has signed a four-year contract at Selhurst Park, bringing with him a wealth of top-flight experience after spells with Burnley and Everton. Johnson, meanwhile, departs after just seven months in South London.

The 26-year-old winger began his career in Manchester United's academy before making his name at Burnley, where his performances earned England Under-20 and Under-21 honours. Since moving to Everton in 2022, McNeil has made 128 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists, while being named the club's Young Player of the Season in his first campaign.

Chairman Steve Parish said: "It is wonderful to finally welcome Dwight – a player with proven ability in the Premier League – to South London. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park."

McNeil added: "I'm really happy to be here, and looking forward to the challenge ahead. The lads have had some great success over the last two seasons. It's something that I want to be a part of, so I'm really looking forward to getting started."

Johnson leaves Palace having arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in January for £35m. The Wales international made 26 appearances in all competitions, including seven during the club's triumphant UEFA Conference League campaign, although he was unable to find the scoresheet in red and blue.

Steve Parish thanked Johnson for his contribution, saying: "Everyone at the club would like to thank Brennan for his contribution towards our successful second half of last season. We wish him the very best of luck in all his endeavours in the future."

McNeil had been close to joining Palace during the January transfer window before a proposed move collapsed at the final stages. The Eagles have now finally secured their long-term target as Pierre Sage strengthens his squad ahead of the new season.
