Palace 4-0 Lech Poznan

Crystal Palace marked their Europa League debut with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Polish champions Lech Poznan at Selhurst Park.

First-half goals from Yeremy Pino, Chris Richards and Jorgen Strand Larsen put the Eagles firmly in control before substitute Eddie Nketiah completed the rout late on.

Having lifted the Conference League trophy last season, Palace made an impressive start to life in Europe's second-tier competition, although the visitors missed an early opportunity to take the lead when Mikael Ishak failed to convert from close range.

The hosts made them pay in the 10th minute when Terry Yegbe's misplaced throw-in was intercepted by Pino on the edge of the penalty area. The Spaniard took advantage of the defensive error before firing beyond Mateusz Lis.

Lech threatened an equaliser but Palace doubled their advantage in the 27th minute. Adam Wharton delivered a corner into the penalty area, where Richards rose to power a header into the net.

The Eagles were awarded a penalty after 33 minutes when Radoslaw Murawski brought down Pino inside the box.

Strand Larsen stepped up and made no mistake from the spot in the 34th minute, registering his fourth goal in three appearances to give Palace a commanding 3-0 lead.

The hosts thought they had added a fourth before the interval when Yegbe turned the ball into his own net, but the effort was ruled out for offside against Strand Larsen in the build-up.

Lech fashioned further opportunities after the restart but were unable to find a way back into the contest as Palace maintained their three-goal cushion.

The visitors' evening went from bad to worse in the 87th minute when Murawski received a second yellow card for a foul on Jaydee Canvot, reducing the Polish champions to ten men.

Palace added further gloss to the scoreline two minutes later when Nketiah found the bottom corner in the 89th minute to round off a memorable European debut for the Eagles.
