Spurs 2-0 Palace

Crystal Palace slipped into the Premier League relegation zone after a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham.

The Eagles were reduced to ten men after just 13 minutes when Jean-Philippe Mateta was shown a red card following a VAR review of his challenge on Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham capitalised in the 25th minute as Archie Gray escaped his marker to head in a corner delivered by Mohammed Kudus.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Palace continued to battle and threatened to find a way back into the contest.

Dwight McNeil came close to an equaliser after the interval, only for Dominic Solanke to produce a vital block.

Spurs doubled their advantage in the 73rd minute when Jan Paul van Hecke reacted quickest to head home from close range after Dean Henderson had tipped his initial attempt against the crossbar.

The result gave Roberto de Zerbi's side a third consecutive league victory, while Palace were left with just two wins from their opening nine matches under manager Pierre Sage.
