Palace 1-1 Hoffenheim

Ten-man Crystal Palace snatched a dramatic late 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim in the Europa League at Selhurst Park.

Daichi Kamada struck in stoppage time to earn Pierre Sage's side a point to keep their hopes of making the next stage of the competition alive.

The Eagles fell behind after seven minutes when Alexander Prass met Tim Lemperle's cross on a swift counter-attack, his first-time effort slipping through Dean Henderson's grasp and into the net.

The Palace goalkeeper redeemed himself with a fine reaction save to deny Andrej Kramaric from close range as the German visitors threatened to extend their advantage.

Hoffenheim's direct approach unsettled the hosts, who struggled to establish any attacking momentum despite enjoying plenty of the ball.

Palace gradually improved before the interval, producing some slick passing combinations as they searched for a way through the visitors' increasingly stubborn defence.

Their hopes suffered a further setback late in the contest when Adam Wharton received a second yellow card for leading with his elbow in an aerial challenge on Wouter Burger.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Palace continued to press forward and were rewarded when Kamada squeezed a close-range finish between Oliver Baumann's legs to salvage a point.
