How a guy on the left can have the gall to quote Voltaire is really quite something.

Their modern day record of the left on free speech really takes the biscuit.

Oh, well, il faut cultiver notre jardin, I suppose.

The fact that you write me off as "a guy on the left" speaks volumes, doesn't it? I can read, understand, appreciate and even enjoy literature that comes from a wide range of standpoints and love Voltaire's style and comedy no matter what I think of his position on any issue.

You clearly can't.

I'm writing you off as a 'guy on the left' am I.....Ok then, fair enough....let's see if you're honest.

Name me positions you hold that the current left hold that are to their right.

There you go, an opportunity to show me how I'm writing you off.

As for Voltaire.....I repeat, due to the fame of his ideas on free speech it most definitely is very pertinent to point out how the left...well and to be fair the current right stand diametrically opposed to them.

I did no more than that.

From that link
"To make matters worse for Germany, the global economy is also slowing, making it harder for companies to pick up new export orders."

Looks like Britain would be in a negotiating position to import from around the world.

Any fortuitous news is torture to the eyes and ears of many remainers. They’d rather famine than see Brexit succeed and generations to come be grateful we left when the whole thing comes crashing down with parts of the EU making people feel very vulnerable at home or walking out for a litre of milk, let alone in work and the minority taking advantage of poorer parts and people of Europe. It will pop one day, and the elites don’t and won’t care.

That's very much the impression I get from many of them as well.....similar to most of the democrats in the US.

They predicted doom for the economy....then when it picked up they said it was Obama's doing.....When the Fed predicted doom they chimed in....how that the Fed have been embarrassed you could hear a pin drop.

And how exactly does that make things better for us?

All our industries, shares and markets are intrinsically linked to Europe and the global economy and any slowdown causes ripples everywhere. To think we will smell the roses when we have complete uncertainty going forward is absurd

And anyone who thinks we will prosper is deluded. Look at the level of personal debt in this country which is at record levels and unsustainable

[Link]

In a nutshell that shows we are poor as a country, probably most since the war. Any upturn would be built on wealth and prosperity, but there is none. Brexit will cause inflation which will lead to interest rate rises creating the perfect storm for consumer finances.
