Well, I'm not suggesting that corporates are happy for their property to be damaged and that it's just accepted. However, you asked for an unacceptable outcome and when it happens it always seems to be for the left.

As for trends....well I can only repeat this latest instance. Chris Packham literally makes a programme on Channel 4 saying is it time to break the law for climate change and nothing happens....But Lawrence Fox is positive towards blade runners in London and is nicked.

Apparently Packham is taking the government to court.

Just how well funded must he be for that?

Yet Calvin Robinson now can't even pay for his flat in London.

Pretty sure that Packham asked the question 'Is it time to break the law' whereas Fox is encouraging and inciting specific vandalism/criminal acts. Nuance but an important one.

Will see if I can dig out exact quotes as that's my surface knowledge

Or your ideological perspective perhaps?

Nope, pretty clear difference from what I can find...

"I encourage them to tear down every single camera there is"

vs

“Perhaps I have to take another route. Does that other route mean that this is the time for me to break the law?”

I mean, one gets a dedicated programme on a major channel on the very question of justifiable criminality compared to a quote you have to dig out.

But If you say so...

However, both you and I know that it's been used to attack the right and....actually it's more than that, it's the right to speak your mind.

From Russell Brand to Jo Brand to Lawrence Fox commentators/comedians/plonkers, whoever it is.....the powerful mustn't be allowed to beat down voices....we have been talking about 1984 for a long time and it's an old meme but more prophetic each year.

A chilling effect is being allowed to gag free speech in this country.

I agree completely.

I also think that flag bearers for the right need to be a little smarter. When you are up against what is becoming an increasingly authoritarian state, it pays to more thoughtful and deliberate.

The majority of people need to feel that they have the moral high ground in denouncing leftism and elitist liberal dogma.

Yep, Robinson touches upon some interesting moves by the GBNews owners, which might speak towards some of what has happened....and why the dissident element at GBNews is being abandoned for the 'safe' approved versions of the right.

The thinking being that its co-owner, Paul Marshall, wants to buy the Telegraph - and the recent unseemly chaos at the channel might count against him. He may be right.

By the time the right are finished with in this country all they will be arguing about is your tax rate.....which is all the neo liberals argue about amongst themselves anyway.

I don't think political views should ever be out of bounds.
Boisterous debate has always been the way of late night politics shows.
I wonder if Fox would have been sacked had he not been arrested?

Fully agree. And wary as anything about Fox. He invited the police raid to today with numerous comments about the Blade Runners. I see/suspect, and happy to be proved wrong, is a grifter trying to hijack what is an underground movement that clearly is making a difference.

No matter what we think about their efforts, what they are doing is a direct attack on infrastructure and as such would bring them onto the radar of some serious enforcement agencies.

You cannot play that game via social media.

Underground movement? There's an underground movement?

Seems to me that that's just annoyed gammons like us letting off steam on forums....and that's like herding cats.

Those Bladerunners are making a difference. A genuine manifestation of ground-up direct action. And impacting directly on a state mechanism for making money.

Ulez cameras, whether we like them or not, are a part of the transport infrastructure. And the impact of the Yellow Jackets over the channel cannot be ignored here, especially by Government.

Some very interesting stats about how many traffic enforcement cameras our brothers over the channel have destroyed. That will not have gone unnoticed by the powers that be here.

Direct action always scares the people in power. Demonstrations, petitions and so on mean nothing. Along with astro-turfed 'Stop Oil' farces actually impact on very little that matters.

But taking down that volume of cameras, along with attacks on ANPR vans, by people who are usually just meant to sit back and swallow s***...a different ball game altogether.

In Ireland, when they tried to charge for water, there were protests but also "water metre fairies" who removed meters. Charges were not brought in. (However, just a matter of time).

I had to dig out both quotes to make a very clear point. And they are quotes

One oversteps the line. The other doesn’t. In this instance, fairly simple

Nothing wrong with posing a question to spark debate. Very different from direct instruction and encouragement to commit criminal vandalism. For someone that constantly carps on about speech you’d think you’d know the difference. If Fox had more of a brain he’d be able to put his points of view across intellectually and calmly, and he’d still be in a job.
