If we don't hear by the end of tomorrow then I'm putting in a tender to get rid of that mural.

That mural was just Parish trying to butter him up

Totally agree.
In the absence of any offers elsewhere, will reluctantly sign our mouth watering offer, reported to be in the region of £200,000 per week on a FOUR year deal for a player well past his prime and has the potential to unsettle other players.
Quite ridiculous!!

However much he's revered and however much Wilf might contribute does anyone think he's going to be worth a million more than the combined yearly wages of Eze, Doucoure, Olise and Guehi?

Honestly, don’t think anyone will argue when the money we are talking about is put into that prospective. I

That gets under the skin of whether there is any truth in the size of the Palace offer.
Parish, is noted for being shrewd , to shrewd some would say. Paying a waning super talent that kind of money doesn’t fit shrewd. And it doesn’t fit our policy of extreme care when employing over thirties.

Exactly why I posited earlier that one of the investors is putting the money up for Wilf's contract. Can't believe we'd do it otherwise. Got Textor written all over it.

And why I think the rumour is a nonsense. I'd like to know where the rumour originated as many seem to be stating the figure as gospel.

I’m old school and sad to say I think you touch on a relevant point. It’s now obvious we are not his first choice. In fact that’s been clear since Arsenal unsettled him.
As Roy said then he is a pro and he trusted him to perform, for me that was a mixed bag.
I don’t deny his right to do what he wants , at the end of the day it’s a job, some would say he has earned the right to drop Palace for something else, maybe he has, with the amount of money in the game , players are going to be mercenary, but as an old ,old fashioned punter I will not look on the player in the same light.
That is until he has dazzled me one Saturday afternoon with his undoubted brilliance.

Zaha can afford to play the waiting game.
If some of the top clubs he aspires to join don’t get their preferred Plan A target, Zaha could become their Plan B.
Furthermore, if one of such clubs lose a player unexpectedly through injury or transfer he again becomes an option for them.
It’s early days in transfer activity and he can afford to play the waiting game.
To those who say we should withdraw the offer, I cannot see that happening.

Two points here, Patrick - it costs Wilf 200k a week from 1 July onwards to play any waiting game. And presents him with a fitness problem if he is not involved in a full pre season.

I believe he will sign a new contract with us shortly. And hopefully go on to be Palace's second highest appearances player (behind Jim C) and score well over 100 goals!

I'd be delighted if he re-signs. He's the reason for our 10 years + in the top flight, and I don't begrudge him a higher contract and rewards.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

Not one player in this squad would have palace as their first choice club, they play for us because they're not good enough to play for a bigger club or because we offer more money than clubs in Europe.
