I be glad Zaha moves on, so can Palace and bring new players through, Zaha always looked miserable anyway, he leaves Palace good, slower pace, looks like injurys building up, 30 years old, let's move on.

Not one player in this squad would have palace as their first choice club, they play for us because they're not good enough to play for a bigger club or because we offer more money than clubs in Europe.

We are their first choice if only because they are not good enough to go higher. We know they would all want top money, top six. They commit to us because that’s how they see their situation. It’s commitment my comment is addressing and the players we have are committed to us. Wilf on the other hand is showing how his commitment to Palace is certainly in question. It doesn’t matter what his reasons are, but by hanging out ,it’s clear he wants away he just waits for the perfect answer to his problem.
Something Palace, as of yet don’t give him, and probably never will, even if he stays.

Zaha can afford to play the waiting game.
If some of the top clubs he aspires to join don’t get their preferred Plan A target, Zaha could become their Plan B.
Furthermore, if one of such clubs lose a player unexpectedly through injury or transfer he again becomes an option for them.
It’s early days in transfer activity and he can afford to play the waiting game.
To those who say we should withdraw the offer, I cannot see that happening.

I suspect there is a lot of truth in this. The transfer windows are all a little stagnant until the big boys have done most of their business and there is some money sloshing around.

As you said, I doubt he would have been the n1 target for anyone given his age. But Wilf on a free still represents a good option.

He could still choose to stay and personally I hope he does

He could, and whilst I understand some resentment and hostility towards Wilf I still struggle to understand any real assertion of belief that he 'must' go.

I honestly believe we are far better off with him, and would struggle to get anywhere near bringing in adequate replacement, before we even get into the 'son of Palace' context.

I sincerely hope he signs. If not, I'll have to believe we'll move on but it won't sit easy with me.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Same.

I do get the argument. Patchy performances, big wage, increasing injury occurrence.

But seeing Wilf walk out onto the pitch (with Olise and Eze) just give me such confidence.

I'm not emotionally ready to let him go just yet.

Thing is Wilf is one of our longest as well as best ever players what ever he does with his life inside and out side football is up to him. He has my respect as imo he's been as up front and honest with everyone as has the club.

In some ways I feel about Wilf the same as an ex-girlfriend (let me finish). We might have split up and she might be a pain but it still hurts to see her out with somebody else.
This is from memory since I haven't had a girlfriend for 30 years and it would hurt more tangibly if the wife caught me gazing wistfully at one of her predecessors.

Few want to lose Wilf, most of us qualify that in certain ways, ifs and buts. Allowing for all of that Palace are far better off with a committed Wilf, than without.
And as they say “no news is good news”. There is no news, no leaks from either side, nothing, surely this favours him still being very close to staying. I hope so.

Whilst i appreciate your opinion and understand it completely , i on the other hand think we are a better team without him . I also am sick to my back teeth of the constant circus that follows him every transfer window , whether its his brothers or his agent prostituting him constantly to other clubs and trying their best to instigate a " big money move for him " and also lets not forget the transfer request he handed in and never rescinded or apologized for . Also i think it will cause a lot of resentment in the dressing room if he has been offered a 4 year contract at 200k per week, lets not forget the clubs policy that seems to have been flung out the window about only giving 1 year contracts to over 30s . I think his ego is big enough , he is starting to pick up a few injuries now which is understandable because of his age and the pace he plays at and how much he is fouled , i think we have been very lucky that he has had no major injury todate ( touch wood) . If he thinks he can do better elsewhere then he has my blessing . He has been great for the club so have a lot of players and we have managed without them . It just my opinion .

As far as I'm concerned in this situation, no news is goodbye. Negotiating with clubs.
