Or a panic inspired? Either way I am never disappointed with the rumour mill or even possible activity in market.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Demarai Gray?

Not exactly thrilling is it. If relegation fodder Everton want to get rid of him then how good can he be.

Gray offers nowhere near the danger Wilf does. If he is coming as backup for £10 million I would say it's a good deal, but if it is to replace Wilf I'd say it makes us weaker in that position.

I think in reality, although we all debate Wilf @200k at length. Any signing we could manage makes us weaker.

He does have an eye for goal though, and Wilf, Olise, Gray, JRS feels like the right balance

It may very well be Olise, Ayew, Danjuma and Gray next season, or at least that was what I had envisaged.

If so, there's options there for sure so would not be overly disheartened. It's whoever will be leading them through the middle I will be more concerned about.

I'm not saying your anger is unjustified however I am choosing somewhere between hopeless cynicism and deluded optimism on this one.

I have an Everton season ticket holding buddy who is laughing his head off that we may be taking him off their hands. Bayer Leverkusen couldn't wait to get rid of him and Everton seem to be similar.

Ray may well be a good coach but if Gray is as bone idle as I've told no amount of coaching will improve that. Isn't one of Dougie's jobs to ensure that potential purchases fit into the club's ethos?

The optimist in me wants to point to my previous post and denounce the likes of Everton as a shambles.

There is another voice however that sees truth in your criticisms/points. I think he is a good player but if we are picking up the new incredible sulk, as previous years would suggest, it's hard not to feel a bit apprehensive.

Hes dog poo (as written on the Demarie Gray thread ) He doesn't have an eye for anything but himself . 6 goals 4 of which were penalties and one assist last season . There is a reason Liecester let him go ,the German team bombed him out after a dozen games for under £2 million and Everton are now doing the same ,or will if nobody pays their ridiculas value on the player . £10 mill is daylight robbery . the Everton fans forum is pissing itself with laughter .

It's a hamstring injury, not an ACL. He'll be missing for weeks, not months

Yes, actually.

3 months (max by the way) is 13 weeks. We are still over 6 weeks from the start of the season as he will need a rest anyway as he's had a very long season.

So the max of the season he will miss is c6 weeks. There is an international break after 4 games, our 5th league game is on Sat 16th Sept. That will be 12 weeks after the injury.

So i suspect he will be back by then, even if the injury takes the maximum time to heal.

It was suggested we need to buy a replacement due to his injury.
Clearly we need a decent squad to cover for injuries/loss of form etc but buying someone for 4 games cover seems a little extreme IMHO.

wilf good on his day - days becoming further and further apart. Unfortunately, Demarai Gray not particularly good on any day.

He won't have had a pre-season and it will take time for him to get up to speed after his injury has healed so it could well be somewhat more than 4 games before he's fit enough to play. Having said that I agree with you that we don't need to be thinking in terms of buying a replacement this summer.
