The irony here being that where we have invested is in the academy. However, whilst that’s absolutely the right thing to do and laudable - if we’re not going to take a couple of youngsters to Man City, when we have a gap on the bench - what message of intent does that send to our up and comings within our shiny new Academy?

Could just mean the whole covid situation limiting contacts and not having the other squads mixing too much in the first team!?

In saying that even without the situation we havnt seemed to be putting youngsters om the pitch.

Yes, you could be right. But, he rarely sticks them on the bench and they were training together - club boasted about that a few weeks ago.

It's really quite simple, we played a team that is Much better than us, they have better players, better youth system, better manager, better staff, bigger stadium, more income and are much richer than us. What do you expect, if we attack we get thumped even harder. The only chance is to defend in numbers, hope to frustrait them and then catch them late on. Its not the players or Roy's fault.

With this thinking, Hello Championship.

So I don’t know about this. As far as I’m concerned City afforded us due respect - we showed them far too much. They pressed, they closed us down, they showed hunger and desire. Brighton did that to them to great effect as have other teams. Bigger stadium, more income and much richer wasn’t overly relevant to Leicester when they won the title.
As I said, I expected to lose for a number of the other reasons you articulate, but it was the nature of this defeat, the lack of youngsters on the bench, the delay in substitutions, no cards (no passion?), no tactical change - just like for like, inept passing, poor decision making and for a number of those you absolutely can blame Roy and the players.

I'll say it again, the U18s played on Saturday and the U23s (the more likely source of bench options) play TODAY at 1.00 pm, so I doubt they'll think anything negative about not being asked to be on the bench last night.

So Roy’s post match interview, at half time (1-0) I expected us to lose the game but not by so many goals. Ffs inspired confidence from our management .. we were not out of the game.. but no change of tactics no desire to win. What’s the point of even showing up ..?

And I’m sure a number of us will say it again - how often do we willingly give them a chance? The U23 should be the breeding ground for the first team so forego that to sit with the 1st team. That tends to be how it should work.

It really bothers me that the games where we look totally outclassed and out of our depth are becoming a bit more frequent now, already we’ve had Chelsea, Liverpool, Villa and City, where we’ve been made to look 4th division and don’t seem to have an answer. Yes we’re playing good teams, but it almost feels like we throw in the towel now we look so bad

If Arsenal scored early doors !! That would have been another 4 or 5 scoreline . That's the worry ,and mark my words we will see these scores against us again b4 season ends

I think it is terrible unfair to blame Roy for not having a full bench at the match. Its is not as simple as some suggest about taking youngsters from the U23 squad, for a start they are in a different bubble to the first team and anyone not in the first team bubble under C19 regulations would have to self isolate and provide at least two negative tests before they could even join another bubble so IMHO his hands were tied.

Half way through the fixtures:

"Big 6 clubs": Lost 3 badly (Liverpool, MC, Chelsea), tied 2 (Arsenal, Spurs), won 1 (MU)

Next Level (5): Lost 2 (Everton, Wolves), tied 2 (Leicester, West Ham), Won 1 (Southampton)

The rest (8 ): Won 4 (Leeds, West Brom, Fulham, Sheffield United), tied 1 (Brighton), Lost 3 (Burnley, Aston Villa, Newcastle)

What this shows is we took most of our points (13 of a possible 24) from the bottom 8, which is good. Those are the teams we have to beat to survive. The next level teams we did okay against (5 of 15). The top level we were okay (5 of 18 ).

We probably need about 12-14 more points to survive. Of course if we get another 23 we would likely finish around 12-14 place.

We had Tekkers and Batts 2 Belgium internationals although not very good ones. Jimmy Mac started again why not JR and give him a break. Roy threw in the towel before leaving London, that’s the issue. If we only want to complete in the games he think we may win then what’s the point ???
