Essentially anyone who works against your interests isn't your friend regardless of who it is.....elites with money will fund the politicians, fund the lobby groups, think tanks and NGOs which influence and create the society they want....that 'open society'.

It's always been that way for centuries now...the difference being that now it's done by enemies who lie to you.

Now why would some want an 'open society'....It all flows back to WW2. Until the boomer super rich with money are pushing up daises we will suffer these attacks on normative society....well it'll lessen a bit but essentially it's about who has the money.

What's 'normal' is that within the UK the 'traditional nuclear family' as you put it clearly makes up the largest percentage of all families. It's also normal that a minority of other families differ either by design or by circumstance. But those percentages are very likely to be marginal at best. It's also important to note that's not exactly a new thing. The change is acceptance that not everyone can or, frankly, should face derision, marginalisation and distain by not conforming to the expected 'normal' stereotype.

However, I would differ with what seems to be this rather egalitarian idea that there are not 'sub optimal' lifestyles and hence criticism of them should be off limits.

It all depends upon the will of those that hold power. Is a dramatic change likely? There are different scenarios but at the moment without dramatic black swan events social and neo liberalism is winning...despite the social statistics worsening....media and educational control, plus bread and circuses work, as the soviets knew and the Chinese know.
