Lucky old Arsenal. Johnston should have pulled out of the challenge. Nketia had lost the ball. If the ref had given a pen for the foul on Eze VAR wouldn’t have overturned it. According to the new regs he could have booked half the Arsenal players for asking for a card for Eze diving.
I thought we did pretty well. Lacked a bit of composure when they were down to 10 men. Ayew worked his socks off. Edouard had one of his better games and linked up pretty well. Might benefit from a run. Eze had a quiet game in terms of attacking threat. Didn’t really take anyone on. Good to see Ahamada and especially Jes getting on. Neither looked out of place.

No Zaha, no magic.

Otherwise creditable performance against a formidable side on paper.

Top teams bias as usual but we have to deal with it.

Didn't think we would score but defensively sound.

I thought we needed a Zaha to open them up he was sorely missed in the last 20 minutes.COYP

We defended the corners very well, but Roy will have nightmares about the free-kick that resulted in their penalty. Our defenders were asleep - or had no awareness/concentration.

As we battled for the equaliser, maybe a few pings from outside their penalty area would have been a better ploy than thread through needle intricacy. Or is that too basic for the modern game?

At least, we improved on last season’s result.

And we have a goalkeeper who isn’t afraid to come for high crosses (unlike Jules and Wayne H)

There was no bias, theirs was a penalty, Eze just got squeezed out and fell. Their sending off was very harsh, Ayew conned the ref.

i see this as a transition period .....post Wilf. Although we missed him & his magic.....its a wonderful opportunity for Eze and the boys to step up.

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

We done well playing against a side that spent 100m on 1 player, we lose 0-1 no shame in that , hopefully we can get a couple in and few injuries back we’ll do okay

Defensively we look great, especially with two quality defensive midfielders.

Attacking wise there is currently too much on eze and ayew. Hopefully we bring someone in before the window shuts in a wing or attacking role.

That team today but with zaha and olise in it would have caused huge problems for arsenal, so we are not far away from a very strong first 11.

I’d like to see rak sakyi loan move delayed until olise is back. Was good to see he and ahamada get game time today.

I am feeling optimistic for an entertaining season ahead

Game showed just how light we are up front. I’ll be very disappointed if nobody comes in there Olise returning or not.

They seemed to get every single decision, beyond a joke at times, then ironically the softest of sending offs for them. I wasn’t convinced at all. They wasted time at every available opportunity and just packed the box when down to ten.

On another day we may have had something, Edouard and Ayew could have done a lot better from advantageous positions first half as one example.

Very far from the worst performance ever but as I started with, you couldn’t imagine where a goal was going to come from. Thought it strange the obsession with criticising OE’s lack of effort etc but I really saw it today. Movement very poor and looked loathed to brake a sweat. Need XI against the likes of Arsenal.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Based on the performance tonight I don’t think there is any way Arsenal will sell Nketiah now, he was excellent as was Saka.

We desperately need a specialist left winger who has an eye for goal. Ayew is currently in the best form I have seen him, so we look ok on one side but with Zaha gone there is a lack of creativity on the other.

It wasn’t a bad performance but we need to press the ball a bit more because we allowed them to gain confidence and knock it around at will by sitting off them first half.
