It's been part of my life for nearly 60 years. You can't beat the sheer joy and elation when Palace win, particularly against a big side or in an important game. I get a buzz for days afterwards.

It is a distraction from the day to day hum drum. I can immerse myself in the drama of the game and for 90 minutes it is the most important thing in my life. It is unpredictable and you never know what course the the story will take and how it will end (unless we are away to Spurs).

I am generally a temperate undemonstrative person, but football gives me an arena in which a to vent my emotions. There is no other area of my life where I shout, swear, curse, gesticulate and, generally lose it, so it is probably therapeutic and good for me.

I think this is how football became popular.

Back in the day you worked in a factory or down a mine or some other crappy dirty low paid job having to do what The Man tells you.

Saturday afternoon you got rid of all that frustration by cheering on your local side an sinking a few pints afterwards.

Match called off due to a localised outbreak of gastroenteritis affecting both teams and supporters which comes into devastating effect 5 minutes after kick off.

Is heroin addiction enjoyable, I doubt it.

Football had me by the b****s at aged 5 and has never let go, all those things you mention just make it worse.

There can't really be anything that hasn't been done already, an Eze wonder goal perhaps.

A good idea when throwing quotes around in an attempt to appear knowledgeable is to at least get them right!

As Aristotle said: 'The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead'

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

And as Aristotle once said: “Jeffrey Schlupp is an impact player and should not be starting on the wing” - 325 bc.

Sounds nasty, but I think they all deserve it

It was never about liking football it was about having a day out with your mates and later with my sons , going on the football special having a beer or two , cheering and hoping you would win the game which always made the journey home that much better .
Going to Selhurst on a Saturday was special , a Tuesday night even more so ,the smell of onions and pipe tabbacco ,peanuts fora sixpence and all that .
But yes I never really liked football , I loved it .

There came a time just a season before we were promoted that I realised I didn't like the modern game of all seated stadiums endless sideways and back passing described above and I had been going to matches out of habit . It was time to have a break .

So my premier league years with Palace have been without my cherished season ticket , I go when I feel like it when we play on Saturday afternoon but its not for the football on offer but then it hasn't been for a long time

spot on.

the smell of the evening games..Ohh!

However I know its bad, but final game of season, other fans crying when they go down.
NEVER cry on a tv game !

Being at the match is a totally different experience from watching on TV.

On TV Today's game is often a monumental bore. All the side and back passing, time wasting, diving and general cheating, has killed it for me. I'd rather watch cricket, athletics or even golf.

At the match the atmosphere takes you over.

Sensible rule changes are needed to revitalise the game. As it is, the misuse of VAR, the offside and handball rules simply spoil the game. The game's administrators are and have been a corrupt bunch of pluck wits, and have been for a long time.

Who knows where it goes from here.

Well done women's football, please don't copy the men.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.
