A defeat tonight to Chelsea and the cries for the manager to be shown the door will reach a crescendo. There will be more eruptions than that associated with Vesuvius.

Yeah any manager worth his salt would be top of the table with this team of world beaters - Cline, Richards, Ayew, Mitchell, Lerma, Mateta - each worth easily over £100m!

Luckily Parish is a lot better at this than you or I and realises Roy is doing a great job with very limited resources.

Why is it that the most expensive defence over the last 11 years - with the highest profiled players - is the worst?

Remember how solid we were with free agent Delaney in charge?

We might easily have been 3 down by now.

1-0 is looking very generous compared to the number of attempts on goal

Roy needs to change something defensively for us. Our final third looks as intact as a stab vest in Croydon.

Is it that he's expecting the early ball and times it all wrong? Something that should be sorted on the training ground.

Maybe it's that he's hoping someone will push forward along side him and move their line back before the ball is played

....or perhaps he's just useless at staying onside....

RH “well there’s the first goal lads, you know the plan - everyone behind the ball and play for 1-0”

“But boss we didn’t score it”

RH “which one of us has been managing for 40 years, you know the plan. Stick to the plan or you’re dropped”

Started brightly, but too open at the back surprisingly. Andersen trying to be too cute and getting caught out.

Worryingly, our players don't look like they want the ball.

Can't believe im saying it but I wish Ward was back. Clyne is an absolute shambles. I think my 86 year old nan can run faster than him.

Hmmm..... for his first Premier League match as referee, this one is setting his credentials by his decisions as to what is to be stopped for and what is not......

There are no leaders in this side. Delaney has already been mentioned, and of course Jedinak. Some would argue less talented on the ball, but who cares? Leaders on the pitch, of which we currently have none.

We look like we're still warming up. Somebody better tell them there's a match on.
