Given we are nowhere near clear from the relegation zone we definitely cannot be selling our best player. The only two scenarios I can see where it could be considered is first if he's likely to be out for most of the season (in which case no-one would pay his market value) or second if a club offered above his market value, which I see as being unlikely given all of the rumoured interested parties all spent £150m+ in the summer.

To me this is all media nonsense, plus most of the articles are talking about the summer anyway. Added to all of this there are no obvious replacements. The idea that Clarke from Sunderland could fill his boots straight away is laughable and we don't have the resources or pull to bring is someone of Olise's quality who can make an instant impact. As someone else said, if we were comfortable on 30+ points then maybe the club could try and take advantage and drive a bidding war (if there is no release clause), but we're not. Plus, and quite importantly, we still haven't replaced Wilf, so how can we afford to sell another winger right now?

A part exchange , and not saying AWB is the right one, has one benefit. We at least get a player in addition to money. Does anyone actually trust the board to reinvest say £80m?? No chance. What happened to the £50m we got from AWB? Repaid directors loans?
He has been injured a lot for a young player. That doesn’t bode well long term. The odds are that he will be sold in the summer. A part exchange would suit me as I have no trust in the majority owners.

There are elements of the modern game that I despise.
Olise signed a new long term contract at the beginning of the season while injured.
It was reported that his new deal included a significant upload in pay.
Since the new deal, he has played just a handful of games as a result of injury and is now inhured again.
We are now barely in January and I've seen it variously reported that he's joining Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea. I may have even missed one or two clubs.
Yes, a lot of this is conjecture but the advent of buy out clauses hangs heavy over any young talented player.

But it's not just this- look at Gallagher.
A Chelsea fan from a family of Chelsea fans with a life ambition of playing for his boyhood club .
He's achieved this aim, is now captain and is playing well.
Yet Chelsea are actively looking to sell him.
Why?
He's a home produced youngster and if they sell him they can book it as pure profit.
This is justification for weakening the team and selling a player who doesn't want to leave while retaining underperforming players who don't want to be at the club.
Rant over about the modern game, unless you want to discuss VAR.....

Isn't it refreshing this FA Cup w/e, NO VAR, brilliant & some of the tackles that have been going in, marvellous, old skool.

If I were Olise I’d give Man U a wide birth - last two of our players who went there ended up going backwards significantly. With Wilf finally ending up on the subs bench at Cardiff before we saved him.

Aside from that Utd is littered with players - who have gone there and had similar experiences- Anthony, Sancho, Martial etc,,

On Sancho - if Utd do want Olise - swap deal Sancho plus cash - would be an interesting / potentially good deal..!!

As others have pointed out - I feel a number of clubs would resist buying him until he goes through an ‘injury free’ few months. This injury was not caused by a bad tackle, so perhaps he does have hamstring issues. These never seem to go away and need to be managed.

If Roy had just taken him off a few minutes earlier….

A swap deal only becomes an option if Olise decides he wants to go to Man Utd. I would be surprised if he chose that option.

Clarke is right footed, and is an outstanding prospect, he is 23, has scored 21 goals and 14 assist, in what i class the second hardest division in Europe, at reading Olise had 7 goals and 12 assists, you, me or anyone know how he we perform in the Premier, but i suspect he will be fantastic, the long term replacement for Olise could be Morgan Whittaker who is developing very well, nobody wants Olise to leave but he will in the summer, start planning ahead

Yeah - so would I hence my comments..!!

All I’m saying is that Sancho would be a much better/like option for like swap deal should this scenario come to pass - present itself..!!

Sancho still only 23 and born in Camberwell.

Personally I see Olise going to City - when the time is right - I have nothing to back that assumption - but just my opinion..!!

Yeah but he ain’t playing is he and they want rid - training with the youth team..!!

No one’s going to offer him anywhere near comparable wages - wherever he goes..!!

All his wages show is how badly mismanaged Man U is/ has been as a club - resulting in the mess they are now..!!

So in answer to your question think I’m still on planet Earth..!!
