It's pretty poor to spread this about a kid - I'd be amazed if there's any substance to it.

yes back to Tayo. He came across very well when featured in the channel 4 Palace Academy documentary a year or so ago so definitely doesn't appear to have an 'attitude'. When he signed his first pro contract he used some of the money to move him and his parents in to a nicer rental house and neighbourhood (and he won't be earning silly money).

His football progress has clearly stalled the last 2 years since he made his debut and last season he rarely featured on the bench, even when Mitchell was missing or carrying a minor knock.

It could be as simple as for all his pace and attacking flair his defensive side is poor and is not improving.
The Coventry loan was perhaps too high a level for him (championship), maybe a div 1 loan would have been a better level.
I hope he can turn the corner as we definitely need competition at LB.

Fair enough - you could also argue we let O'Brien go but it looks like he is good enough and will get better. Taking into account fees and wages we likely made a few hundred thousand. Ok, that seems good - that's life. However, could also say we bought Holding for 4 times asuch, plus we pay Tomkins 50k a week. I'd rather have O'Brien than Tomkins for sure, and frankly looking that way with Holding.
If we'd kept O'Brien and played him, he could have developed with us. He would have played a few times this season already.

I expect he may have wanted to go to get game time. Whenever he played for us, I thought he looked the part. Fair enough, he's not Andersen or Guehi but he's a better squad option than what we have. He also could end up as good as someone like Andersen in a couple of years time. How will our one million look then?
I thought it was short sighted and looked like we were doing Textor a favour. It didn't sit well with me.

I don’t disagree with any of this in principle, but he had a year left on his contract and by all accounts was not keen on signing another (presumably because he knew of Lyon’s interest) - if that is the case, we didn’t have much choice in the matter.

Without being too long winded, I reckon he would have wanted to stay if he could see a progression into the first team - which we really should have given him. However, I realise supposition and hindsight mean very little. I really didn't like the transfer at the time and still don't. As I've already said - the big one is Holding. Any better than O'Brien? It isn't looking that way to me. As for Tomkins - he really was good for us. But, unfortunately, nowhere near a first team player now - not for around two seasons at least. Again O'Brien is better - obviously just my opinion. Presumably not the club's opinion.

He has the making of a very good player, seems farcical that we end up sending all these players out on loan, yet we struggle to put a starting 11 together!

Exactly, it didn't benefit us.

And we lack a commanding figure like Jake.

Commanding figure, he's 6ft 6 and didn't win a header vs crawley in the summer, is in a lyon side that ships goals, premier league would eat him up and spit him out.

Well exactly. Amy money made on him is wasted on deadwood salaries.

Its one of my major issues with palace at the min, bad decisions. Tomkins is a prime example. Assuming he's 5 choice? That role in the squad could be played by an academy player.

And yep I expected JoB wanted to play first team footie, and he wasn't going to get it any time soon.

You wouldn't give that role to an academy player, 5th choice not getting any minutes is more suited to a player like tomkins, happy to be 5th choice, great experience to have around.
