Will reserve judgement until i've seen them both play ( which may not be soon given the way Roy goes about things ) In general terms and the way the game has changed happy to see a potential upgrade in attacking output from our full back positions. I think Clyne and Ward contracts finish at the end of this season so suspect one of them will not be offered an extension and this will balance out our squad as we don't need 3 right backs.
With Wharton again he potentially gives us 2 defensive midfielders and so again brings us a better squad balance and competition in that area. Despite his price tag i am not expecting too much from him first up as most defensive midfielders get better with age and experience. He will be one for next season and beyond.
Given it is not easy to get deals done at this time of the year i would give it a 7/10 at this stage.

Currently have 4 right backs Clyne, Ward, Ferguson, Munoz.

I'd rate it better than expected , we actually got players in positions we needed

Munoz will give us options , his attacking will be a dimension we haven't seen down the right flank for some years .

The Wharton kid looks mustard and with the right guidance will be a key player in the future and eventually outgrow us for a tidy profit .

Both could go straight into the starting XI though we all know Roy will be a bit cautious with the youngster .

And we still need a striker

I agree. The January window is never the time to get a bargain and a club like Palace is always going to have to be very careful to ensure value for money is part of any new signing - a particular an eye on future sell on seems to be the right way to go, as far as I am concerned.

I know we haven’t replaced Wilf yet and we’ve been a good striker away from being a really decent team for a number of years now - but I think under the circumstances it’s been a decent enough window for us.

IF the reported agreement with Maxwell Cornet had have come to fruition I’d have been a lot happier - although tbf the fact that JRS is back to fitness might see him develop his confidence if given more opportunities for minutes.

Overall 6/-10 for me.

I would think few on here have seen either Munoz or Wharton play or know much about their attributes.
Optimism is probably based on hope rather than detailed knowledge.
We have needed a younger and more energetic right back for a while and hopefully Munoz will tick that box.
I have doubts that Wharton will start much under Roy and see him more as a long term purchase for the future.
Initially he'll probably replace Jairo on the bench.
We could have done with a left sided forward at least on loan, but for some reason have not exploited the loan market at all this season.

In some ways it seems a disjointed approach.
We were in for an experienced loan player, Phillips, to go to straight into the team as a short term fix to solve the Doucoure absence and have ended up buying an inexperienced Championship player of potential. It's a big ask to expect him to fill this void this season if that is the intention.

I can see why we haven't bought another young attacking player as it must be hoped that Franca will eventually get opportunities under a new manager.
His only oportunities this season are likely to be limited to when we're coasting 3-0 (unlikely) or when we are heavily losing a game and he gets a few minutes at the end of a game.

I can see why we haven't

I'd be surprised if Ferguson can remember what position he used to play.

In the context of this transfer window (i.e. very few players of any note moving anywhere) I think we've done well with what we've got and what we've hung onto: 8/10.

Apart from Phillips I don't really remember seeing any deal go through thinking it's a shame we missed that one. And now I'm actually more excited about seeing the new lad develop over time than have had Phillips here for a couple of months with no real affiliation to the club.

I wish that someone would explain how the loan system works to Parish as he seems to have forgotten

I think the 2 players we got in are for the right positions, whether they are to the required standard, we will have to wait and see, i must say they look good, i would have like Cornet or Nelson on 6 month loan, but we do have Ayew and Franca for the Left, and Olise and Rak-Sakyi for the right, you cant get a replacement for Eze, impossible he is a genius 7 out of 10
