We are currently 5 points outside the bottom 3 with a worse goal difference (-14) than any team other than the bottom 2, who I think most agree are on their way down.
Thus it's the 3rd relegation place up for grabs and it looks to be between Luton, Forest, Everton, Brentford and us.
This indicates to me that we are right in the mix.
I would suggest that those clubs currently have more reasons to be optimistic than us.
Those teams have good managers and are showing plenty of fight.
Forest now have their striker back and Brentford have Toney back.
We on the other hand now find ourselves facing a period without Olise, Eze and possibly Guehi.

I would suggest that as a side who doesn't score many, the first thing we have to do is tighten up defensively and stop conceding early goals which we have done 4 times in recrnt games.
We look incapable of keeping a clean sheet.
We neither defend nor attack well.
We look a shambles with players not knowing what they're supposed to do.

Some will say we only need to win the home games v Burnley and Luton which will put us a long way to safety,but on current form that can't be assured.

There needs to be a catalyst for change.
The worry for the club is that Roy shows no sign of getting us out of the malaise as he keeps playing the same way which unsurprisingly is bringing the same results.

There is nothing to suggest he can turn things around.

To get rid of him also carries risks - can we get a suitable replacement,would he get the right response, would it be short term and more upheaval?

We missed the chance to change the manager before the international break which would have given a new manager the opportunity to work with the players.

I think the club will stick with Roy now , but I am not sure what the catalyst for change will be.
It could be touch and go as to whether we survive.

It has been bothering me all night. I hate that it winds me up this much but it does because unlike the players, managers and owners us supporters can’t just walk away, it’s in our blood.

Any other football club in our situation, with the players available to the manager, would make a change. Simple as that. There is talent beyond Olise and Eze but every player to a man is playing way below par. They look unmotivated and who can blame them. Roy is like an energy sponge, sucking the life out of the players. They look lost and devoid of a plan.

Doucoure is a massive loss. But that was months ago that we all new he would be out for the season. SP and DF should have had cover lined up the day the transfer window opened but waited a whole month to get any more bodies in and still not sure it is even like for like cover (a loan of a defensive midfielder should have been a priority).

The goal keeping situation is just bizarre. Every single post this weekend regarding the goal keeper has been to ask why SJ is not playing. Johnston needs to be starting against Chelsea.

Roy has to go. Luton are looking like a team. Brentford have the main man back and unless Forest and Everton get deducted points it is going to be a shoot out and unfortunately we are firing blanks and are leaking goals for fun. We could be f***ed.

15 games to go. We have to assume that we will be without Olise and Eze for a time and cannot assume they will be involved in any significant amount of games. The only thing then that can hopefully work is a new manager bounce.
Big bonus to keep us up with 15 games.

I see the following if no change is made. Maybe enough… maybe not and we could easily get our arses handed to us too.

Could easily get nothing from Everton, Wolves and Bournemouth based on there form and ours. But on our day we could grab a win against any of them (city and Liverpool unlikely as both going into there run in to be champions).

We absolutely need a change even just so the opposition is not sure which Palace will be turning up .

Under Hodgson,our only chance of staying up are further points deductions at Everton and Forest for their ridiculous rule breaches.
Our next nine games are optimistically likely to yield some four points as we continue our race to the bottom under Roy.

I do take your point about we’re the ones who are still around for 10/20/30/40 years etc and will still be around in the future, but I disagree with the owner part, it’s much easier for us as fans to walk away. We go to watch a game and if it’s s***e we can go home and forget about it or at least there’s no pressure on us to sort things out, we have our moans and groans, and then start thinking about the next game and hope it gets better. Much as Parish has made mistakes and it feels like a bit of a s*** show at the moment, he’s the one who has all the pressure on him to run the club, balance the books and deal with all the ego’s and try and keep the fans happy

It's all very well saying that Parish should sack Hodgson. And although I think he's reluctant to do so I think the bigger issue could be that there simply isn't anyone out there that Parish wants to appoint at this time.

The time to have done it would have been after the Arsenal game. The media whipped the Sheffield game up as a ' must win ', but with Olise and Eze we always had a reasonable chance of getting the result.

Then you look at the next two fixtures, Brighton and Chelsea, and my expectation was no points from those games. We look bang on course for that expectation to be met.

I have my doubts about what impact a new manager have on the squad, but the fact is that Roy does not appear to have a solution. It's been one season too many. Not all his fault by any means but certainly he has to take his share of the responsibility.

Why recently have we become reliant on 1 or 2 player, last few years Wilf and now Eze and Olise, bad recruitment policy or bad coaching?? Other mid table sides cope with injuries so why not us I ask?????
