Neil Warnock is still searching for his first Crystal Palace victory after a drab stalemate at Scunthorpe United.
With two draws and two defeats, the new manager is desperate for a win, but found United the better side at Glandford Park.
Cleveland Taylor, ANDY Crosby, Kevan Hurst, ANDY Butler and Martin Paterson all had chances to score for the hosts
Palace's first opportunity came five minutes before break when goalkeeper Joe Murphy was equal to Mark Hudson's long range shot.
On the stroke of half-time, Julian Speroni had to be on his guard to block a 20-yard strike from Paul Hayes.
At the start of the second period, Hudson nodded Mark Kennedy's free-kick over the bar and Scunthorpe's Paterson and midfielder Jim Goodwin almost broke the deadlock, but the match offered little entertainment for the supporters.
Eagles substitute John Bostock, Carl Fletcher and then James Scowcroft tried their luck with efforts, but neither side could find the net.
Scunthorpe remain in midtable, but Warnock's men drop to second bottom in the Championship.
Palace: Speroni, Lawrence, Fonte, Hudson, Craig, Kennedy, Fletcher (Freedman 69), Watson, Songo'o (Bostock 64), Scowcroft, Idrizaj (MORRISON 54).
Not Used: Flinders, Hills.
