IAIN DOWIE said Palace's battling point at Aston Villa was one of his proudest moments as manager.

Andy Johnson gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead after six minutes before Lee Hendrie equalised for Villa on 36 minutes.

"I thought it was an outstanding display, I've had some great moments as Crystal Palace manager but none prouder than this," said DOWIE.

"I thought our energy levels were terrific. We passed the ball very, very well and with Tony Popovic's header at the end you think what might have been.

"We had a lot of chances today against a very good Aston Villa side. Andy Johnson's movement was bright and the two wide men were a threat and it worked for us today.

"It would have been a travesty if we had not got something from the game.

"There has been a lot of flak flying about and a lot of pressure building on us but I thought it was a display full of heart and desire.

"You can't say we come here and did not play. I thought some of our football was fantastic at times. But for the grace of God, we could have won the game."
