Is it me or don't you just love Roy - such a calm manner, persona and influence in what is the mad world of the Premier League. I'm so proud to have him as our manager. Hands up I wasn't convinced at first after his appointment - think that was a hang over to England and the fateful Iceland game. But now he seems an inspired choice - and I'm sure many of the other teams in the mid to lower reaches of the Prem would love to have Roy as their Manager - but they can't he's an Eagle..!! I wonder whether in the twighlight of his career after all he has achieved he is just loving Managing his "home town" club. Well done Roy - and well done Parish excellent appointment. COYP

My friend knows Ray Lewington - they were at Chelsea together. He bumped into Lewington at a function and Lewington said that they had prepared for the game as before but the players simply 'Froze' on the day.I suppose it was appropriate as they were playing Iceland !

I particularly liked what Roy said about Zaha. Very realistic in saying there are no guarantees but made sure to emphasise how important he is to the club.
Divorced...And LOVING it! |

Such a delight to hear some sense every week, to see intelligent tactics, subs, responses to media, to see someone unafraid to simplify things and 'tell-it-how-it-is', even indirectly towards Parish for "shooting ourselves in the foot", for being able to speak graciously about the opposition, the officiating, and in so doing not giving the opposition a reason to play better, or refs to subconsciously single us out for the whistle. Great to see the leadership and respect he demands, pulling 'sacred cows' out of the team and demanding better and better from the players. He's harsh, but fair, and he's clever in his tactics. Such a relief - long live King Roy!

Bloody Hell it was a fairly harmless pun. England have been sh1te for as long as I can remember and I don’t see why Roy gets castigated for that performance. Any team in the top two flights would beat Iceland and surely the players must take some blame. I was glad he was appointed after that deluded clown.

I think somehow the Press conference after Iceland turned Roy into the honest non-acting just normal says what he thinks in a nice way and who wants to do what he loves for as long as possible guy we see now. Always was pretty normal compared to the trained actor guys but now he's just so real it's refreshing and I love it and don't want the actors back ever. Far too many actors now in all walks of life, even the internet and this forum it's pretty damn annoying
