Today I passed the milestone of 15 years with my company and to mark and honour the occasion I got F*uck all, The same as with 5 and 10 years anniversary. To say that I am a little p*ssed of is an understatement
Now I was not expecting much (Last year my mate got £300), but I have been informed that they stopped loyalty payments late last year, incidentally they stopped them just before my 10 year one as well, reinstating them later that same year. Now we are not talking a small company here.
I hear tales of people receiving extra holiday. Weekends away, bonus payments etc. Well I have never received any of these (I don’t receive bonus's either).
A lady at work got a fruit bowl for 25 years service which she thought was a real joke and when presented with it said “In another 25 years time they might put some fruit in it”
So cheer me up and regal me with stories of what you have received. I promise to be very Jealous.

You got "fvck all"? Luxury. 17 years and the best I was offered was an extra two weeks off unpaid during Augusts if I wanted it.

When I joined my company there were awards for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 and 50 years (in theory).

When I got to 9 years they did away with the 10 year award. When I got to 13 years they did away with the 15 year award. I'm not holding my breath any more.

I was disappointed I didn't even get a mention in the newsletter for 15 years. Or a thank you. Not even something that'd cost the company nothing.

We don't get anything for 15 yrs but:

10yrs £1250 (tax paid on it) extra % Pension contribution (up to a month's sabbatical)

20yrs £2500 (tax paid) extra % pension contribution and an extra 5 days holiday

Better than a kick in the teeth, I'm 17 years in!

Where I last worked, you got a certificate at 20 years, £250 John Lewis vouchers at 25 years and £500 John Lewis vouchers at 40 years. All were presented at quite pleasant functions, to which you could invite close family and you got a couple of free photos taken. I was only there long enough to get the first two.

My Dad worked for a company for 36 years. He was constantly getting long service awards at nice functions. I remember a posh briefcase and a nice camera. Then they made him redundant and he was booted out without so much as a thank you. Swings and roundabouts.

We just give people the bumps to mark the occasion. It's the thought that counts after all.

Lucky old you! Only firm I stayed at more than ten years and on 10 years I got a lapel pin (small badge)

Continued in that vain - marked 17 years by making me redundant with the legal minimum compensation!

Was it a Japanese company? I used to work for one and you got a lapel badge at 10 and a ring at 20. The Japanese employees loved it, saw it as a real honour.

Not Japanese - was Yugoslav (at the time it still existed), Those communist states loved lapel badges!

I worked somewhere where you got a small badge about the size of a 1p that had 5, 10, or 15 for those that had been with the company that long.

5 years was bronze colour
10 was silver colour
15 gold colour
