It's common sense to keep a national institution going. 0.05% of a crowd should not be enough to stop the enjoyment of the other 1999000 attending every year. I, along with millions of others over the years enjoy or enjoyed the event. I appreciate that there are those who dont but I'd imagine a majority of those are probably people who have never been, those who aren't really open to cultural integration or the "well to do" who have recently moved into the area as part of the gentrification at the expense of those who were pushed out (but that's a whole new can of Red Stripe I cant be arsed to get into). As for statistical facts... its amazing what you can do with a bit of spin. A lot of your posts are rather 'samey'.

Of course the vast majority were well behaved and well-intentioned and enjoyed the festivities but one cannot gloss over the fact that there were pre-carnival raids on over 600 people, there were over 300 arrests at the carnival with over 30 police officers injured.There were acidic liquid offences, sexual offences,Police were subjected to attacks by blood,bottles and fluids and there were knives, hammers,batons and CSS spray seized. I would express similar sentiments for a non-ethnic event which attracted such abhorrent criminality.Whether it is ethnic or not is irrelevant to me.

Suppose I could add that to help the spin of those statistical facts. Everyone acknowledges crime happens at the event. Some of us are just a bit more aware of the crimes that happen at other events (that seem to draw less attention). Given the size of the event I think things could be a whole lot different.
