I think he signed his death warrant by his comments after the terrible match, there were many options he could have tried last night but he didn't, i just think time has caught up with him and he is being even more inflexible than he has been in the past, and that is saying something, he has to go he has lost the fans and it seems many of the players, there wont be any points in the next two games anyway, prepare for a new man before the Jan 1st transfer window some ins and outs can be achieved

Agreed.
Appoint McCarthy and Championship football is all but guaranteed next season.

I dont think we can appoint anyone but McCarthy for the next couple of games, certainly not full term appointment, then appoint before the transfer window, so some ins and outs will happen, no manager will take the job without a few changes in Jan

I came on here last year and said Mr. Hodgson should not be given another year. Also, I said Palace lacks investment throughout the whole structure of the club. Jeez, we ain`t had a decent striker since Murray If you stand still in this league as someone else has already said, there is only one way it will end. I got slagged off for my comments last year. I'm not saying I told you so, or, what I said was right, but......................................here we are.

The s*** summer transfer window coming home to roost. The squad just isn’t good enough. Roy will get the blame and the sack, while Teflon Steve and the board escape criticism.
Whoever we bring in, won’t do any better with the unbalanced squad we have.
I suspect Paddy will get the job, as it will once again be the cheap option. We’ll bomb and possibly go down.
Can’t help have one sympathy for Roy, he was stitched up. Though felt he should have retired.
Hang you head in shame Steve Parish , you’ve let down a decent man and the fans. Time to try and sell the club and relinquish control. You can no longer help us compete in this league.

I agree with a lot of what you say except the bit about selling the club. I don't believe there are any responsible buyers out there.

There are always chancers who will buy Palace with the clubs money racking up huge debts and then disappearing, just look at Charlton and Portsmouth.

Some have said that Parish wants to hold on, I'm not sure I believe, that if Sheik Yo Money turned up I do think he would sell.

Is there any point in sacking Roy? As you said the summer transfer window was a disaster and not his fault.

To quote the old cliche, it's a Results Business. Based on the last couple of months, Roy would have been sacked , and still could be of course, after last night.

I do sympathise with him in terms of the injuries that we've had which has meant he has only been able to field his preferred starting eleven in one game. And I think he's been sold a pup in terms of the last transfer window, in which the glaring requirements were ignored and money spent on players that have been unable to contribute anything to date.

But his appointment this season was probably based on his ability to be effective with limited resources, and to buy another season in the Premier League. And if that is the objective ( ignoring the '' push into the Top 10 '' rubbish spouted by Parish ), then despite the recent run there is every chance that there will be at least three teams worse than us this season.

But where to after that ?

Without trying to sound over dramatic, the club seems dysfunctional at every level - CEO, Board, Director of Football, Manager and Players. It's resembling a total mess at the moment. It needs a re-set.

Sorry I beg to differ. IMHO There are only 2 teams worse than us, right now, who will be making emergency changes soon while we won't change anything. So, it's a toss up if we can stay safe.

Everton will crawl out of the relegation zone and pass us, we can't beat Bournemouth or Luton. Our only hope is that Nott Forest doesn't improve and there's no guarantee of that. The future looks bleak. So much for those 'safe' hands.

I think I might even suggest there is only one.

If Roy goes then it should be imminent. No point in sacking him for losing to Liverpool and City. Which it looks inevitable that we will.

I was discussing Parish on Tuesday night with a mate that knows him from their school days. He was of the view that Parish will sell up once the new stand has been built.

Roy is the reason that the owners feel empowered to demonstrate a complete lack of ambition. Another manager wouldn't stand for it.

Vieira joined and within two months we'd signed Olise, Andersen, Guehi, Gallagher, Edouard and Johnstone. He would have demanded that support in order to join.

Roy, on the other hand, said we should be happy with our squad this season despite the glaring holes in about 4 positions.

He was never a manager for the long term, only the short term, and if the short term isn't even working anymore then there's no reason to have him.

Get Graham Potter or Steve Cooper in, both of whom have a track record with young players, give them 6 months with the squad before the summer window to see what they want / need and then back them.

Cooper will be available soon. Welcome Steve!

It doesn't matter who succeeds Roy ,they will only come and will have to be backed with a decent transfer budget ? Otherwise the problem's will still exist.Thats why i think it will again be the cheapest option in Paddy Mc.

I for one wouldnt be too confident with the appointment of Cooper , He talks a great game but he has spent a lot of money at Forest with very little reward . I dont think he would be any better than Paddy.

Agree with all of that . The spirit that has kept us alive has left us ,fans walking out of the stadium before the end isn't Palace and once its gone it will take a long time to get it back

I mentioned in another post of a fan saying to me last night 'I've never felt further from the club in the last 10 years' and I would suggest he is far from alone.

I second your agreement of NEILLO's post too Elpis. I don't think he's being dramatic, and neither am I, in saying there is little that feels 'right' atm. All energy, enthusiasm, identity and unity has been sapped. It does feel like a continual regurgitation of dross, accompanied with false promises, which many are just too tired for now.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
