The Wharton to Bayern speculation continues with most of the papers reporting that they're massively keen on him, especially now Kompany has gone there. So my question, what kind of bid would it take for you to consider it? £60m? £80m? £100m? He's truly a special talent and with him in the side we have a genuine chance of doing something special next season. However, a bid of £80m+ would massively boost our transfer kitty and would be phenomenal business just 5 months after signing him. I genuinely hope we keep him but, either way, this is brilliant business from us. With 5 years on his contract, it would have to be absolute top-end for me to even respond. £100m minimum. Clubs like Bayern have pots of money.

He wouldn't go at the moment anyway.

Such a high profile move at his age is a gamble for him as the competition for getting in to the staring 11 at BM is going to be much more intense. At his young age such a move may not be the best for him and his future development. At the end of day, if they do offer in excess of £60m + and the club accept the offer then he has a big decision to make. Sooner or later we will have to understand that the better our squad is, the more likely we are to be under pressure from bigger clubs who will make big tempting offers for our players. The secret is of course how you manage such moves and what contingency plans you have in place and how you invest income from a player sale to replace players if they move on. A club of our size will always have to wheel and deal players and maximise any income from such activity to keep updating the squad.

If Bayern came along and offered 70-80 million I would imagine the club would find it hard to turn that money down, but are they going to offer one of their highest-ever fees for a player with less than six months experience in a top league? It seems highly unlikely to me. Anything less than that and I don't see Palace being under any pressure to sell, with Guehi or Olise likely to leave to balance the books.

Kompany announced as new Bayern manager. And I thought it was just politicians that failed upwards.

Doesn't seem too impressive. Bayern were desperate to finally get someone as a new manager. Picking Kompany looks like a big gamble. If he doesn't produce results on day 1, he will quickly be gone. And I agree with others that Wharton would be stupid to go to Bayern now. It's always hard for a young player to establish himself there. Much wiser decision to stay with Palace.

Slightly off topic but Kompany said at his unveiling "I'm not defined by the successful years in my life, it's the moments I had tough times. "I don't want to be successful on my own I want to bring as many people with me, that's in my nature." Yeah, sure the Burnley fan's are feeling that right now...

They paid £82 million for Kane. Personally I'd pay far more for Wharton than Kane because as well as being pure class, Wharton has 13 or 14 years left. Kane has 2 or 3. Wharton, right now, is precisely the player to pay mega bucks for. I hope and pray they don't, of course.

I think one of ours "star players" will leave, and i understand that is the way of the world, but the question is who has a realise clause, if it is only Olise and he wants to leave then he has to be the only one, if he doesn't want to leave (hopefully) and nobody else has a realise clause, you are looking at probably Andersen or Guehi, both easier to replace. not Wharton.
