Probably end up on loan and then disappear into the ether if they even get that far. Chelsea are definitely a perfect example of the grass isn’t greener.

I thought the whole idea of having a cat 1 academy was so it was us that could do the poaching ? Still I suppose when the big boys come calling (cat 1-cat1 )there is little we can do but ask for compo

What's the point in having an academy if clubs can just take our players if they are any good? We are just getting players ready for other clubs. Surely this guy was our "next Zaha"...

You can't poach a player registered to another acadamedy unless you offer them a pro contract in their Under 16 year - I can only assume this is what happenend and Palace offered him one to, but he chose United. For what it is worth we will be due compo or a transfer fee. Nothing to get excited about though.

The kid is 16. His development could take all sorts of pathways. There are many examples of young players of that age who have shown immense talent but have failed to progress and kick on from that early promise. If he goes he goes - Palace, United or the player himself will be able to repent at leisure depending on how his career develops.
