I’m surprised he’s played on average 22 prem games per season. Never rated him myself, but he must be doing something right with that level of game time under about 500 different managers.

Possibly the most underrated player at the club. I think if he had been a foreigner Liverpool would have held him and played him. His biggest problem was filling in at full back during an injury crisis at Selhurst. Considering Kelly is a central defender this was unfair though charitable of him. For several games he was constantly out positioned by clever passing. But back in a familiar role he is very useful.

Kelly was certainly on the list of players leaving unless he signed a new contract this summer, and there has not been any announcement as far as I can see. Funny that he's playing in pre season games and remains on the squad list on the club website, whilst sako (for instance) isn't.

It may be as simple as that his contract ends a few weeks later than cabeye's, delaney's etc, and he's simply turning up to work. Or perhaps he's agreed to do pre season with us whilst continuing to negotiate on his contract.

Hopefully he'll be staying. Does a decent job when needed and doesn't cost the earth I presume.

Sadly his confidence was ruined when Pardew insisted on playing him as a left back when he clearly wasn't.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
